Twilio.org and NASA Lifelines Launch Crisis Readiness Accelerator in Colombia 

NASA Lifelines and Twilio.org are thrilled to announce the launch of a new crisis readiness accelerator in Colombia, designed to harness the power of satellite data and digital communications to strengthen humanitarian response and resilience. 

Backed by Twilio’s technology and grant funding, the accelerator will support interdisciplinary teams working on local use cases, like earthquake preparedness, flooding, landslides, urban heat resilience and other priorities identified with local partners. The program is designed to turn good ideas into practical projects that can be used in communities and scaled across regions. 

“This partnership grows out of our commitment to humanitarian assistance and climate action,” said Danielle Morris, Twilio’s Senior Global Impact Fund Manager. “At Twilio, we’re equipping nonprofits with scalable digital communications, grant funding, and pro bono technical support to help communities act earlier, respond faster, and recover more effectively. Together with NASA Lifelines, we’re building a new model for collaboration to serve communities facing complex crises”. 

“This accelerator focuses on solutions that organizations and communities can use and that are built on trust, local ownership and accelerating Colombian expertise,” said Rhiannan Price, Program Lead for NASA Lifelines and Senior Advisor at DevGlobal, “We’re eager to bring together academics, practitioners and communities to unlock the powerful combination of satellite data and communications to deliver trusted information to the communities who need it most.” 

The accelerator includes three signature programs: 

• Speed Dating: Three in-person events in three cities facing different climate risks will convene NGOs, academics and experts to spark new collaborations. Teams will co-develop proposals to address humanitarian challenges using satellite data and modern communications tools. 

• Ready for Impact: A three-month incubator will support 12 finalist teams with mentorship, technical support, and pitch training. Finalists will present their plans to scale impactful projects relying on satellite and communications technologies at a showcase in Bogotá in June 2026 to a panel of funders including Twilio and NASA, with top teams receiving scale-up grants of up to $100,000. 

• Community Murals: Local artists will partner with research teams to create murals in three cities, visually communicating the impact of science and technology on crisis readiness. These murals will reach thousands daily and deepen community engagement. 

Interested participants can apply at NASALifelines.org to participate in the programs, with each finalist eligible to receive up to $20,000 in grant funding. Speed dating applications are due October 24, 2025, and finalists will be announced in mid-November. Ready for Impact Applications are due January 31, 2026, and finalists will be announced in mid-February.
