DevGlobal at Population Association of America 2026 Annual Meeting
Every spring, thousands of academic researchers and professors, private-sector practitioners, and intergovernmental officials focused on the study of populations converge at the Population Association of America’s annual meeting. This conference, known as “PAA” for short, is the United States’ largest demographic conference, and attracts sociologists, demographers, and those dedicated to understanding how populations grow, move, age, and change.
This year, senior consultant Michelle Schmitz gave the poster presentation, “Using Vaccination Campaign Data to Quantify Settlement Listings for a Polio Vaccination Campaign,” at the Data and Methods/Applied Demography poster session. Built upon the presentation of the same name from the Human Planet Forum, this poster presentation allowed DevPartners to socialize the analysis conducted for the National Emergency Operations Centre with interested stakeholders, and to solicit feedback for future iterations of the analysis.

In addition to the poster presentation, Michelle attended several sessions relevant to the scope of work of the project, include sessions on Digital Traces and Found Data, Valuating and Improving Data Quality, Data Challenges in Lower- and Middle-Income Countries, Special Populations, and Innovative Data Sources and Methods in Population Estimation.
DevPartners was honored to present the work provided to the Gates Foundation, and to attend PAA in St. Louis. By utilizing cutting-edge academic research with our applied portfolio in the field, we hope that we can help to further improve the landscape of the primary healthcare campaigns in the geographies we work in.
This analysis was conducted as part of the Gates Foundation grant, INV-044980. To learn more about how DevPartners empowers communities and decision-makers to leverage geospatial technology for good, please explore our ongoing projects and initiatives.
